These are some of the golf courses I have played. If you would like to know a little more about these courses, please Email me: steve@foxyfour.fsnet.co.uk
1. Allestree : Municipal course at Derby (ideal place for a beginner)
2. Sinfin : Municipal course at Derby (cheap, but you need to be straight on some holes)
3. Trent Lock G C : 27 holes. Nine hole pay and play, plus an eighteen hole course. Ideal nine hole for a beginner as they are allowed to wear trainers. So If they are just trying it out to see if they like it, they can do it without spending money on new shoes.( I would still recommend they borrow some shoes in winter, to prevent slipping) Great club house and pro shop. Pop up balls on driving range.
4.Rufford Park: Notts, We I have played here three times now, and found it a lovely course. Plenty of undulations, and a great par 3 through some woods. Plus a good club house.
5. Morley Hayes: Derby, Long course. Not as easy to play as some I have played. But is a good challenge for a seasoned golfer. Also has a good club house.
6. Whiston Hall: Ashbourne. Good course, Some long holes on the front nine, but some short holes on the back nine. Club house is adequate. Played here twice now, and we all like it.
7.Cotgrave Place: Notts. I have played here three or four times. Two 18 hole courses. Both well worth playing. Also has a good club house.
8. Brailsford: Derby, nine hole course, can get crowded as you go round the same nine twice.
9.Buxton G.C.: A nice course, we played two winter greens when we played it. But they were very good considering. Some of the holes are a bit long. So it's not ideal for a beginner. Good club house and food.
10.Seedymill: Litchfield. Well laid out course with challenging holes. Good club house, and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
Others: Hawkstone Park, Whestone, Ashbourne, Bullwell Forest, Tamworth, Ramsdale, Horsley Lodge, Forest Pines, Maywood, Bondhay, College Pines, Oakmere and Grassmoor.
